Bownstorehouse began in Williamsburg, Brooklyn in 2009 with a simple idea: to seek out beautiful, well-made, and functional objects for everyday life. We look for pieces that feel honest in material and form—things you will want to live with for a long time.

Our original goal was to create a modern general store for the neighborhood: a place to find the necessary items for the home, chosen with care so that people would keep reaching for them day after day.

While our location has changed over the years, our philosophy has not. We continue to sell simple, useful products made to last, with an emphasis on craftsmanship and enduring design.

We are now based in East Hampton, New York, with a focus on our online shop and an ever-evolving assortment—along with occasional pop-up experiences that allow us to share the collection in person.
